Peace Arch Entertainment Group Inc. and Artina Films have set Jared Leto and Lindsay Lohan to star in Chapter 27, a new feature film exploring the murder of John Lennon in 1980. The motion picture, which was written and will be directed by Jarrett Schaeffer, is the second collaboration between Peace Arch and Artina. The two companies are currently in production on Tom DiCillo's Delirious, starring Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt and Alison Lohman.

Leto (Lord of War, Alexander) stars as Lennon's killer Mark Chapman, who is torn between his awe of Lennon and his desire to be famous himself. Lohan (Herbie: Fully Loaded, Mean Girls) plays a devoted Lennon fan who befriends Chapman on that fateful weekend in New York. Robert Salerno (21 Grams, All the Pretty Horses) and Naomi Despres will produce the picture for Artina Films along with Alexandra Milchan.

"Jarrett Schaeffer is a visionary new filmmaker who will no doubt have a prolific career ahead of him. His passion and vision for 'Chapter 27' drew me to the project immediately," says Salerno. "He clearly had the same effect on our cast. Jared and Lindsay are two tremendous actors and could not be better suited for these roles."

Whatever, Lennon doesn't even deserve a good film. Everything he did seemed ego driven. Sure, he cared about his causes but it seems like it became a crusade to posture himself as some holy thing. And his loon of a wife doesn't help his case.

Before Yoko, Lennon was naive and was a fun loving soul. I honestly think John was the best Beatle and he had an opinion and would speak it..but Yoko penetrated his mind and turned him into a sort of robot about politics and things of that kind, like Yoko. :p

Honestly, McCartney always struck me as arrogant, Harrison seemed too out there and Ringo is Ringo. Lennon is the only Beatle to this day that I truly admire.

But I don't buy Lennon trying to make himself out as some Jesus-like figure. :p
