- This weekend could finally be the boost the box office needs in leadup to the forthcoming Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire. Chicken Little, Disney's first fully animated movie without Pixar fared well, but just barely beat out the War saga Jarhead which saw an exceptionally strong opening and a higher PTA. Since Saturday will see a huge increase for Chicken Little (typical of family matinee crowds) and Jarhead will see a moderate one, Disney should prevail in the end with Chicken Little looking at 37-39 million, similar to Robots, and Jarhead could stir up a solid 32-34 million. Yes, that's TWO 30 million openers.

- Holdovers were exceptional as well. Saw II dropped 52%, but given it's Halloween bow and being a HORROR sequel, industry pundits had it dropping around 60%. After Sat-Sun, the decline could level to a solid 45-50% and the film will pass the original's gross in just two weekends. Also holding well was Zorro, and Prime & Dreamer both saw exceptional 20% drops.
